best app for comics

i use this app from years. I only suggest to add the access to google drive an similar clouds.

Long time User

Ive been using this app almost since it came out, never been disappointed. Its truly an organization nuts dream.

Cbr files need accessible through Google drive

Please make it so I can open cbr files from the google drive through the comic zeal app. It lets you do pdf, but not cbr. I have to copy the link from google drive and download it though safari and then open it in comic zeal... Takes a long time.

Awesome comic reader

Fully featured, lots of options, frequently updated. Perfect comic reader!

Comic zeal is crap

In theory a great way to read comics on an iPad, but the app is crash prone to a great degree. Large volumes get to a certain page, crash the app, and refuse to page past. The slider was a good idea that was executed poorly and is just cumbersome. The indent or swipe left process is also glitchy and often doesnt work. Not worth the money for being able to store in folders and by series. Too many bugs, too little thought for end user.

Import from box doesnt work

I tried to import comic from Box it shows as downloading but then doesnt appear in collection. If I open in Box app, then "Open in" comic zeal it imports fine?

Solid and worthwhile

This is my go-to CBR reader. Great feature set. The only features missing for me: - cloud sync options. iCloud, Dropbox, etc. - better scaling options. I want the app to intelligently zoom to completely cut off the "white" margins, so I get the best possible full width zoom. Cant do it. And if I manually zoom to trim the edges, the app doesnt maintain the side to side alignment as I scroll. But these are small complaints. Once I grokked the UI, I was set. No problems at all.

Great app gets even better

Update-Still using this app as my main comic reader, and fortunately, I do not have any of the crashing issues that others do. Previous Review-This was already one of my two favorite comic book reading apps and Biolithics new update is fantastic! Easy organization with the slider, themes and an overall new polish and shine. Worth it for anyone to check out, and absolutely worth the price for all the hard work they put into it

Years later, Still the best comic reader

Keeps getting better with each update, and if there is an issue, its fixed quickly. Its my main comic reader on iPad and iPhone. Simply the best!

Amazing app for reading comics

I used to use comic flow when uploading and reading comics on my iPad. Since I got the 6plus, I have retired my iPad. Unfortunately, comic flow wasnt available for the iPhone. After some research, I went with this one and could not be happier. Transferring is a breeze - you just drop the files into your web browser and they sync to the phone and it automatically organizes them for you! I would have to do that manually with different folders using comic flow. Also, the reading experience is great. It doesnt do guided view exactly like comixology but it has its own version that works very well. Really happy.

Edit - FIXED! Still having serious problems with latest update

Update May 2016 - The latest updates have fixed almost all of the issues! Thank you! This app rightfully returns to the top of the comic reader pile. Im a long standing and loyal supporter of this app. Its always been the best one out there. Im also very appreciative and understanding of the one man dev team making such a (usually) great product. However, Ive got to write this review to bring up some major problems. More major than anything Ive encountered in years of using the app. For info I have an ipad air 1 running iOS 9. The biggest showstopping bug Im having is all of the graphics/ images/ icons for my collection disappearing and taking minutes to return. This then also turns into the comics themselves disappearing. I have to close the app and re open to get the images back. I also get the new pages blurring issue mentioned elsewhere. Neither of these major issues have ever happened before. The issue seems to often be triggered by me reading large PDF format comics, but it can also happen at any point when looking through my standard CBRs. I dont have a large collection so I dont think its a caching issue or memory. Please fix these problems and Ill return the review to a 5 star! I would honestly rather the app not evolve so that these basics stay stable then risk instability through continued polishing. Thanks.

A Must Buy

This app just keeps getting better and better. The new themes are great. The multiple ways to load content are awesome. This is also a great PDF reader. If you use a PDF reader and want a different type, try this. If you read comics, this is the app for you. Two options I miss is the ability to hide the boxes and increase the thumbnail size. But these do not reduce the utility of the app. New faster updates should help this app get even better. As updates progress I like developers that adapt and keep pace. This is a must try app!

Solid app but new features should not charge extra

I was very disappointed when I found out that after paying $5 bucks for the app I would still need to pay $2 dollars for each new feature that the developer comes up with. For instance the default and only theme available is very sore in the eye and I would like to have a more clean theme but for that I would have to pay even more. Not a very fair business model.

Great Comic Reading app!

Works great on the iPad PRO! It’s like reading full sized comics!!!! (Single pages ARE full really full size!) Looks like theyve fixed the authentication issue (May 2016)!!! Great app for reading and sorting and storing digital comics. Reading is very easy and does a great job of page turning/flipping (you can make it so “flips” are instant (this is important for some comics). It’s very fast too. It handles rotation and zooming and scrolling very very well. It’s a great app and I love it, I gave it 5 stars. I’m pointing out some of the difficulties below, since it’s a $5 app I thought I’d get a little nitpicky before you buy it. The menu is a slightly different interface than many other iPad apps, but you’ll get used to it. Selecting and sorting is different in a way that KIND of makes sense, but the standard delete (swipe to left) isn’t supported. If you swipe wrong it actually tells you not to swipe that way instead of just doing the swipe which is kind of strange (it seems like they only support one kind of swipe so why they are particular, I’m not sure). You have to drag your comics over via iTunes. You can sort of get to your DropBox/Box files, but it’s inconvenient, from that app and download and select “open in…” but it’s awkward and slow, especially if you want to do more than one. While we did get an update in May of 2016, the author has been unresponsive in the forums for months (9/2015?) so not sure what is going on with future updates (no communication in the support pages for 5 months). Update: I went back to update the few conversations in the support forums (and to tell the people with the authentication problem to try the update) for Comic Zeal and it looks like theyve pulled most of the discussions with people complaining about the lack of support. Im happy theyre back but Im not happy about that! How about apolgizing instead of hiding...

Solid app

Works well, especially the wifi transfer. Only wish it had bookmarks and a nice page slider (thumbnails, finer grained control like video playback).

Crashes like crazy

Works great for two weeks and then started crashing every time I upload a new comic. Completely not usable now, dont know what to do! I love my money back!

Most intuitive organization features; great support

The Slider is an AWESOME way to organize a large (or even small!) collection exactly how you want it. The reader itself is easy to use while not sacrificing customization options, and most importantly, the developer is VERY receptive to suggestions and willing to discuss why he made the design decisions he did. Your money is well-spent here!

Great but issue...

Great app, but their is an issue regarding the progress bar in list mode that requires you to toggle back & forth b/w list & image mode in order to get it to display beneath the comic title. This issue crept up after the last update & was not fixed with this most recent update.

Long time user 1st reviewer

Ive used this app for years and although there have been occasional bugs here and there Ive always been very happy with the straightforward design and organizational options. Everything about this app is very well thought out and easy to navigate. I genuinely appreciate the effort the developer put into making such accommodating to western or eastern comic fans a la the manga option in the scrolling. All in all an exceptional app for digital comic readers.

Great Developer Support Makes Great App

He is constantly tweaking to keep this the fastest smoothest reading experience I have on iPad. The organizational system takes a while to get used to and then you are flying. Inside a book I have never had a better experience. Also the import compression keeps app bloat down while not losing quality. Kudos for keeping the focus on the reading experience which is what this is all about.
